Summary

Enter a world of gargoyle protectors, rising demons and one girl with an explosive secret。

Eighteen-year-old Trinity Marrow may be going blind, but she can see and communicate with ghosts and spirits。 Her gift is part of a secret so dangerous that she’s been in hiding for years in an isolated compound guarded by Wardens—gargoyle shape-shifters who protect humankind from demons。 If the demons discover the truth about Trinity, they’ll devour her to enhance their powers。

When Wardens from another clan arrive with disturbing reports that something is killing both demons and Wardens, Trinity’s world implodes。 Not least because one of the outsiders is the most annoying and fascinating person she’s ever met。 Zayne has secrets of his own that will upend her world yet again—but working together becomes imperative once demons breach the compound and Trinity’s secret comes to light。 To save her family, and maybe the world, she’ll have to trust Zayne。 But all bets are off as a supernatural war is unleashed…

Better than the original trilogy for sure but still on the cringy side。 I prefer Trinity way more than Layla, not a fan of Layla at all。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Wow this book was just。。。 bad。First of all, I was completely bored for the first half of the book where basically nothing was happening other than Trinity arguing with Zayne and being vague and elusive about what she really was。 But when the “big reveal” happened, it was not surprising at all。 I mean, what else could she be that hasn’t been introduced to us yet and is oh so powerful? Duh, an angel。 Since this series and its predecessor are all about the religious stuff。 I guess things got to be Wow this book was just。。。 bad。First of all, I was completely bored for the first half of the book where basically nothing was happening other than Trinity arguing with Zayne and being vague and elusive about what she really was。 But when the “big reveal” happened, it was not surprising at all。 I mean, what else could she be that hasn’t been introduced to us yet and is oh so powerful? Duh, an angel。 Since this series and its predecessor are all about the religious stuff。 I guess things got to be a bit more exciting when Roth and Layla came back into the picture, because I loved their story wayyyy more。 But even they were pretty disappointing in this book, considering how badass they both were in the previous books。That seemed to be the biggest theme that bugged me while reading Storm and Fury。 Supposedly Trinity is this “super dangerous” being, who you “don’t want to get on the bad side of”, and she is a “weapon that will be called upon”。。。 but like, every time she actually fights she gets her butt kicked。 And not to mention, her fire sword isn’t that impressive。 It’s like she isn’t even really the weapon, but rather just carries a fancy weapon inside of her that she can barely use for more than a few minutes。。。 that doesn’t sound like someone special enough to save the world。 And maybe she will be at some point in the series, but I’m not going to keep reading to find out。Also, I just don’t understand why JLA makes a point to explain and show how demons are more than just evil and actually can love and do acts of good, yet her angels are completely unfeeling and incapable of love? Doesn’t seem consistent to me。 And on top of that, why would Trinity’s father, the all-so-powerful archangel, just not step in to do anything when his own daughter who was supposed to be earth’s savior was on the brink of dying time and time again? Like huh? Make it make sense。Lastly, this series and its predecessor always discuss the importance of free will, and it being the reason why Heaven doesn’t just step in an eliminate the big bads of the world。。。 but when it comes to apocalyptic-level badness where teenagers like Layla and Trinity are told that the only thing stopping the world from ending is lil’ old them。。。that doesn’t seem like they have any free will of their own if the alternative is letting everyone die including themselves。。。Anyway, I so wanted Zayne to find his happily ever after, but sorry buddy, Trinity is too blah for me to keep reading about her。 。。。more

I wasn’t sure what to think when I first started reading this book。 I thought it was very interesting that she is almost blind but it’s trained very well。 I thought that was pretty awesome。 I really liked the narrator of this book as well。 I thought she did a really good job and I can’t wait to read the second book in the series。 I’m glad the second book is going to have the same narrator as this book。

SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!!!What the heck。 I love Trinity and Zayne’s storyline。 There’s something about Trinity that I absolutely love。 Her whole character!!! She is on badass level。 Probably one of my favorite characters I’ve read about in a long time。 I loved how confident she was in herself and didn’t let anything or anyone hold her back。 I also enjoyed Zayne much more in this series than I did in the Dark Elements series。 It could be from what happened in those books that made me like him more。Th SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!!!What the heck。 I love Trinity and Zayne’s storyline。 There’s something about Trinity that I absolutely love。 Her whole character!!! 2。75 ⭐'sI don't usually complain about editing because I think it comes off as pretentious and judgey。 And, let's be honest, I'm not smart enough to be a member of the "grammar police。" So I cringe at myself as I say this。。。the editing in this book is so bad。 Bad enough that I noticed and got frustrated。 If the story had been amazing I could have overlooked it (maybe)。 But it wasn't that good。 I wanted to like it。 Demons, witches, angels and gargoyles。 Gargoyles! How fun。 But it missed its mark。 2。75 ⭐'sI don't usually complain about editing because I think it comes off as pretentious and judgey。 And, let's be honest, I'm not smart enough to be a member of the "grammar police。" So I cringe at myself as I say this。。。the editing in this book is so bad。 Bad enough that I noticed and got frustrated。 If the story had been amazing I could have overlooked it (maybe)。 But it wasn't that good。 I wanted to like it。 Demons, witches, angels and gargoyles。 Gargoyles! It started with FBAA and then I was led to this series。 I can now officially say that JLA is one of my most favorite authors。 There’s something about her writing that completely sucks me in and I can’t put any of her books down! Solid 3 stars for this series spin off; I hadn’t read the original but didn’t seem like it was necessary。 Sooo … my previous experience with Armentrout is the Blood & Ash series & this one is definitely less mature (ok steamy)。 Skewing much younger initially I almost did not finish; but the action kicked up & character development improved。 In the absence of new entries by this author or other similar ones, I think I’ll give the second in the series a try!

。。。more

2。5 starsMore often than not i found Trinity to be juvenile and annoying。 Also at times it tended to drag a bit。 It had enough good moments though for me to want to try out the second installment (if I can get my hands on it)

I didn't read the series that this is a spin off of before reading this book。 I think I probably would have been more invested in the overall universe and all the characters if I had。 I almost stopped reading it in the beginning because the female lead got on my nerves。 She tries to be all whatever about everything while describing how she looks in a humble brag kind of way。 I kept going and ended up liking her。 The ending really interested me so I definitely plan to continue the series。 First I I didn't read the series that this is a spin off of before reading this book。 I think I probably would have been more invested in the overall universe and all the characters if I had。 I almost stopped reading it in the beginning because the female lead got on my nerves。 She tries to be all whatever about everything while describing how she looks in a humble brag kind of way。 I kept going and ended up liking her。 The ending really interested me so I definitely plan to continue the series。 First I think I'll play catch up by reading the prequel series。 。。。more

This book is a solid 3。5 stars, but since that isn't an option I rounded up。 It started slow for me, I was slightly annoyed because they skirt around what Trinity it is for 70+ pages, and it wasn't really a secret。 So that just didn't go over well with me。 I found it hard to keep going at times when there was so much focus on "her secret"。It got better in the second half of the book。 Way better。 I'm a huge fan of Roth, I'm a sucker for his type of character。 And I will be reading the next book。 This book is a solid 3。5 stars, but since that isn't an option I rounded up。 It started slow for me, I was slightly annoyed because they skirt around what Trinity it is for 70+ pages, and it wasn't really a secret。 So that just didn't go over well with me。 I found it hard to keep going at times when there was so much focus on "her secret"。It got better in the second half of the book。 Way better。 I'm a huge fan of Roth, I'm a sucker for his type of character。 And I will be reading the next book。 I tried to make this spoiler free, and overall think it should be read。 。。。more

I read the Dark Elements series first which I absolutely loved (um hello Roth our beautiful crown Prince of Hell) and I’m so glad I started with that series first and then started this one。 As a spin off, I was able to better understand how the characters arrived to where they are now as this series takes places about 6 months after the events in the final book of the Dark Elements。I really liked the chemistry between Zayne and Trinity and I’m glad Zayne is able to start having his own happy end I read the Dark Elements series first which I absolutely loved (um hello Roth our beautiful crown Prince of Hell) and I’m so glad I started with that series first and then started this one。 As a spin off, I was able to better understand how the characters arrived to where they are now as this series takes places about 6 months after the events in the final book of the Dark Elements。I really liked the chemistry between Zayne and Trinity and I’m glad Zayne is able to start having his own happy ending。 Although I have to admit, any scenes with Roth returning in this series were my absolute favourite 😍 。。。more

✨Book Review✨***I missed this world so much! I absolutely loved all the characters in this series。 Trinity is badass and and impulsive。 Her loyalty to her loved ones was one of my favorite things。 Zayne was sweet and brooding。 Their chemistry and banter were off the charts。 I loved the action and the inclusion of a heroin who is not perfect but is still awesome。 I, of course, loved seen Roth, Layla, and Bambi again。 Those parts were definitely my favorites。 I could not believe the ending。 It was ✨Book Review✨***I missed this world so much!
